Load Profile & Strategy
- Has the organization quantified its total electricity load and consumption profile by site? *
- Has a renewable electricity target with a target year been established? *
- Has a procurement strategy across instruments (unbundled RECs, PPAs, green tariffs, on-site) been defined? *
- Are procurement decisions aligned with the geographic and temporal boundaries of consumption? *
Instrument Quality & Attributes
- Do energy attribute certificates meet the GHG Protocol Scope 2 quality criteria? *
- Are certificates only used once, retired, and claimed exclusively (no double counting)? *
- Are certificates as close as possible to the period of consumption (vintage)? *
- Is additionality considered for PPAs and long-term contracts? *
Contract Structure (PPAs)
- Is the PPA structure (physical, virtual/financial, sleeved) documented and understood? *
- Have financial risks such as basis risk and settlement mechanics been assessed? *
- Is ownership and retirement of the associated RECs/GOs contractually secured? *
Accounting & Reporting
- Is market-based Scope 2 calculated using the procured instruments and supplier-specific factors? *
- Are both location-based and market-based Scope 2 results reported? *
- Are renewable energy claims documented to withstand third-party assurance? *
- Enter the percentage of electricity sourced from renewables for the reporting year.
