Audit Programme Objectives (Cl. 5.2)

  • Are audit programme objectives established consistent with the strategic direction of the auditee? *
  • Do objectives consider management priorities, business intentions, and requirements of management systems? *
  • Are legal, regulatory, and other requirements reflected in the programme objectives? *

Programme Risks & Opportunities (Cl. 5.3)

  • Have risks and opportunities to the audit programme been identified and addressed? *
  • Are risks related to planning, resources, selection of audit team, and communication considered? *

Establishing the Programme (Cl. 5.4-5.5)

  • Are roles and responsibilities of the person managing the audit programme defined? *
  • Are the extent, resources, and scheduling of the audit programme determined? *
  • Are audit methods (on-site, remote, sampling) selected appropriate to the objectives? *
  • Is the audit programme documented and communicated to relevant parties? *

Auditor Competence (Cl. 7.2)

  • Is the competence needed by auditors determined based on the discipline and sector being audited? *
  • Do auditors demonstrate personal behaviour (ethical, open-minded, observant, perceptive)? *
  • Do auditors possess knowledge and skills in audit principles, procedures, and management system standards? *
  • Is auditor competence acquired through education, work experience, auditor training, and audit experience? *

Evaluating & Improving Auditors (Cl. 7.4-7.6)

  • Are auditors evaluated against competence criteria using defined methods (records review, feedback, observation, exam)? *
  • Is ongoing maintenance and improvement of auditor competence supported through continual professional development? *
  • Is the audit programme monitored and reviewed for improvement? *
