Approved Plan
- Is an approved Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plan (SOPEP) carried on board? *
- For ships also carrying NLS, is a combined SMPEP (oil and NLS) provided where required? *
- Is the plan in the working language of the master and officers? *
Reporting and Contacts
- Does the plan set out reporting procedures for an oil pollution incident, including when and to whom? *
- Is the list of coastal state contacts and authorities current? *
- Is the list of company and interested-party contacts (P&I, salvage) up to date? *
- Enter the date the contact lists were last reviewed and updated.
Response Equipment
- Is the SOPEP equipment locker complete and matching the plan's inventory? *
- Are absorbents, booms, non-sparking scoops, and containers serviceable and accessible? *
- Are scupper plugs and deck spill-containment arrangements available for bunkering? *
Crew Readiness
- Are crew familiar with their SOPEP duties and the steps to control a discharge? *
- Are oil-spill response drills conducted and recorded? *
- Is a ship-specific plan of piping, vents, and tanks included to help locate and stop a leak? *
