VGM Determination Method
- Is a VGM obtained for every packed container prior to stowage on board? *
- For Method 1, is the packed container weighed using calibrated and certified equipment? *
- For Method 2, are all cargo, packing, dunnage, and tare weights summed by an approved procedure? *
- Is the weighing equipment certification and calibration record available? *
Documentation and Communication
- Is the VGM stated in the shipping document and signed by an authorized shipper representative? *
- Is the VGM communicated to the master and terminal in time for stowage planning? *
- Enter the verified gross mass of the container in kilograms.
Loading Controls
- Is a no-VGM-no-load control applied so containers without a verified gross mass are not loaded? *
- Are significant discrepancies between declared and observed weights investigated? *
- Is the stowage plan based on verified gross masses to preserve stability and lashing limits? *
