Surface Defects
- Is raveling or weathering (loss of surface aggregate/binder) present?
- Is bleeding/flushing of asphalt binder observed?
- Is polishing or loss of surface texture reducing skid resistance?
Cracking
- Is transverse (thermal) cracking present?
- Is longitudinal cracking present (wheel path or centerline)?
- Is block cracking present?
- Is alligator (fatigue) cracking present, indicating structural distress? *
- Approximate percent of area with fatigue cracking (%)
Surface Deformation
- Is rutting present in the wheel paths?
- Is shoving, corrugation, or distortion present?
- Are potholes or patches present?
Rating & Recommendation
- PASER surface rating (1-10) *
- Recommended treatment category (no maintenance / routine / preservation / structural / reconstruction) *
- Photograph representative distress
