Dantrolene & MH Cart
- Is a full stock of dantrolene (sufficient for the MHAUS-recommended treatment dose) immediately available where triggering agents are used? *
- Is sterile water for injection (preservative-free) stocked in the quantity needed to reconstitute the full dantrolene supply? *
- Are dantrolene and MH cart contents checked for expiration and completeness on a defined schedule? *
Adjunct Supplies & Monitoring
- Are cooling supplies (cold IV saline, ice) available for active patient cooling? *
- Is continuous core temperature monitoring available in anesthetizing locations? *
- Are supplies for treating hyperkalemia and arrhythmias readily available? *
Protocol & Preparedness
- Is a written MH emergency treatment protocol posted with the MHAUS 24-hour hotline number? *
- Are MH mock drills conducted at least annually for perioperative staff? *
- Is a transfer plan defined for facilities that cannot provide ongoing critical care?
Documentation & Follow-up
- Is an MH crisis event fully documented, including triggers, treatment, and patient response? *
- Are patients and families counseled and referred for MH susceptibility evaluation after an event? *
- Are MH-susceptible patients flagged in the record with triggering agents avoided? *
