- Smoke alarms are installed in each sleeping room and on each level and tested *
- Carbon monoxide alarms are installed where fuel appliances or attached garages exist *
- Alarms are within manufacturer service life and have working batteries *
- Fire extinguisher(s) are present, charged, and accessible (kitchen at minimum) *
Egress and Emergency Info
- Each sleeping room has a compliant second means of escape (egress window or door) *
- Exit routes and doors are unobstructed and openable without a key from inside *
- A posted evacuation plan/floor diagram identifies exits and extinguisher locations *
- Address is clearly visible from the street for emergency responders
Hazard Controls
- Stairs and elevated areas have secure guardrails and handrails *
- Pool, spa, or water features have required barriers/alarms (if present)
- Heating appliances, fireplaces, and grills are safe and vented properly *
- GFCI protection is present at kitchen, bath, and exterior receptacles
- No obvious trip, electrical, or scald hazards observed *
