Service Entrance and Meter
- Service drop/lateral, weatherhead, and meter enclosure are intact and secure *
- Service size/rating identified and appears adequate for the dwelling *
- Service grounding and bonding are present and connected *
Panel and Overcurrent Protection
- Panel cover removed and interior inspected (where safe and accessible) *
- No double-tapped breakers, over-fusing, or mismatched/unlisted breakers *
- No open knockouts, exposed conductors, or evidence of overheating/arcing *
- Circuit directory is legible and reasonably accurate *
- Photo of panel interior
Branch Wiring and Devices
- Representative receptacles tested for correct polarity and grounding *
- Switches and lighting fixtures operate as intended *
- No open junction boxes, exposed splices, or missing cover plates observed *
- No presence of hazardous or obsolete wiring (e.g., unremediated aluminum branch, knob-and-tube) *
Required Protection
- GFCI protection present at kitchens, baths, exterior, garage, laundry, and unfinished areas *
- AFCI protection present where required by applicable code
- Smoke alarms present in each bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and each level *
- Carbon monoxide alarms present where required *
