Roundabout Geometry

  • Does the design provide adequate entry-path deflection to control speeds? *
  • Are inscribed circle diameter and lane widths appropriate for the design vehicle? *
  • Is the truck apron sized and detectable for the design vehicle?
  • Fastest-path design speed (mph)

Sight Distance & Signing

  • Is intersection sight distance and stopping sight distance provided at entries? *
  • Is landscaping in the central island limited to preserve sight lines?
  • Are yield control, chevron, and one-way signs/markings provided per MUTCD? *

Pedestrian & Bicycle Accommodation

  • Are splitter islands provided with pedestrian refuge and detectable warnings? *
  • Are crosswalks set back from the yield line an appropriate distance?
  • Are bicycle ramps or bypass provisions included where warranted?

Traffic-Calming Elements

  • Are vertical/horizontal calming measures appropriate for emergency-vehicle access?
  • Is drainage maintained around raised calming devices?
