Setup & Equipment

  • Structure / deck section ID *
  • Date of survey *
  • Is a copper-copper sulfate (or equivalent) reference electrode used and calibrated? *
  • Is a direct electrical connection to the reinforcing steel established? *

Surface Conditioning & Grid

  • Is a measurement grid (typ. 2-4 ft spacing) laid out and referenced? *
  • Is the concrete surface pre-wetted to ensure electrical continuity? *
  • Grid spacing used (feet)
  • Are surface conditions (temperature, moisture) recorded?

Measurements

  • Are potential readings recorded at each grid node? *
  • Most negative measured potential (mV vs CSE)
  • Are readings more negative than -350 mV (>90% probability of corrosion) mapped? *
  • Percent of readings indicating high corrosion probability (%)

Interpretation & Actions

  • Are potential contours consistent with delamination/chloride data where available?
  • Is supplemental testing (chloride content, resistivity, cover survey) recommended?
