- Ambient temperature at time of inspection (deg F)
- Is the bearing/joint layout plan referenced for member identification? *
Bearing Condition
- Are elastomeric/pot/rocker/roller bearings free of excessive corrosion or section loss? *
- Are bearings properly seated and free of tipping, walking, or misalignment beyond design tolerance? *
- Do bearings show movement consistent with thermal position (not frozen or locked)? *
- Are elastomeric bearing pads free of bulging, splitting, or delamination?
- Are anchor bolts, masonry plates, and keeper assemblies intact and tight? *
Expansion Joint Condition
- Are joint seals (strip, compression, finger, modular) intact and watertight? *
- Is the measured joint gap within the expected range for the recorded temperature? *
- Measured joint opening (inches)
- Are joint armoring/nosing and anchorages free of cracking, spalling, or loosening? *
- Is the joint free of debris packing that could restrict movement?
Related Distress & Drainage
- Are bearing seats and pedestals free of water staining, spalling, or leakage from joints above? *
- Is substructure below joints free of chloride-laden runoff damage?
- Are drainage troughs/downspouts at joints functioning and unclogged?
Rating & Actions
- Bearing element condition state (1-4 per AASHTO element inspection)
- Joint element condition state (1-4)
- Are follow-up maintenance or repair actions recommended? *
