Certification and Manual
- Is a valid Polar Ship Certificate carried, stating the assigned ice category and operational limitations? *
- Is the Polar Water Operational Manual (PWOM) on board and reflecting the ship's capabilities and limits? *
- Are operational limits (temperature, ice, latitude) understood and observed for the intended voyage? *
Ship Systems and Winterisation
- Are systems protected against ice accretion and low-temperature effects on decks and equipment? *
- Are navigation and communication systems suitable for polar operation, including redundancy? *
- Is the polar service temperature (PST) rating of materials and equipment adequate for expected conditions? *
Life-Saving and Survival
- Are personal and group survival equipment provided for the maximum expected time of rescue? *
- Are immersion suits, thermal protection, and survival resources rated for polar conditions? *
- Enter the maximum expected time of rescue used for survival provisioning (hours).
Environmental Protection
- Are oil and oily mixture discharges prevented in polar waters as required? *
- Are garbage and sewage discharges controlled per Polar Code restrictions? *
- Is the crew trained and competent for ice operations as required (basic/advanced ice navigation)? *
