Point-of-Operation Guarding
- Is a guard provided at the point of operation where a hazard exists? *
- Does the guard prevent the operator from placing any body part in the danger zone? *
- Are point-of-operation devices (two-hand, presence-sensing) functioning where used? *
General Guarding Requirements
- Are guards affixed so they cannot be readily removed or bypassed? *
- Do guards protect against flying chips, sparks, or in-running nip points? *
- Are guards free of pinch points or sharp edges that could injure the operator? *
Power Transmission Apparatus
- Are belts, pulleys, gears, and shafts within 7 feet of the floor guarded? *
- Are exposed set screws, keys, and projecting shaft ends guarded? *
Anchoring & Maintenance
- Are fixed machines anchored to prevent walking or tipping during operation? *
- Are guards inspected during preventive maintenance and reinstalled after servicing? *
