Context & Energy Policy

  • Have the internal and external issues relevant to energy performance been identified? *
  • Have the needs and expectations of interested parties affecting energy performance been determined? *
  • Has top management established a documented energy policy appropriate to the nature and scale of energy use? *
  • Is the scope and boundaries of the EnMS defined and documented? *

Energy Review & Baseline

  • Has an energy review been conducted to analyze energy use and consumption based on measurement? *
  • Have significant energy uses (SEUs) been identified and prioritized? *
  • Has an energy baseline (EnB) been established using data from a suitable period? *
  • Have energy performance indicators (EnPIs) appropriate for monitoring energy performance been established? *

Objectives, Targets & Action Plans

  • Have energy objectives and energy targets been established at relevant functions and levels? *
  • Do action plans define responsibilities, means, resources, and timeframes for achieving targets? *
  • Are the methods for verifying results of energy performance improvement defined? *

Operation & Competence

  • Are operational criteria established for facilities, equipment, and processes related to SEUs? *
  • Is energy performance a consideration in the design of new, modified, or renovated facilities? *
  • Are energy performance criteria included in procurement of energy-using equipment and services? *
  • Have personnel affecting energy performance been determined to be competent and provided awareness? *

Monitoring, Audit & Improvement

  • Is there a documented plan for monitoring, measurement, analysis, and evaluation of energy performance? *
  • Are internal audits of the EnMS conducted at planned intervals? *
  • Does top management conduct management reviews including energy performance and EnPIs? *
  • Are nonconformities addressed through corrective action and continual improvement demonstrated? *
