Screening & Identification
- Are all patients screened for natural rubber latex allergy or risk on admission and preoperatively? *
- Are latex-allergic patients flagged in the record and with an allergy identifier (e.g., wristband)? *
- Are high-risk groups (spina bifida, multiple surgeries, healthcare workers) identified? *
Latex-Safe Environment
- Are latex-allergic patients scheduled as the first case of the day when feasible? *
- Is a latex-safe supply cart or kit available for these patients? *
- Are powdered natural rubber latex gloves eliminated from the facility? *
Products & Staff Protection
- Is a current inventory of latex-containing products and their alternatives maintained? *
- Are staff educated on latex allergy recognition and response, including anaphylaxis? *
- Is occupational latex sensitization managed through employee health surveillance?
Emergency Response & Review
- Are latex-free emergency and resuscitation supplies available for latex-allergic patients? *
- Is a latex reaction treated and reported as an adverse event with follow-up? *
- Is the latex-safe program reviewed periodically as new latex-free products become available?
