MSA Study Planning
- Have measurement systems for control-plan characteristics been identified for study? *
- Is the appropriate study type selected (variable vs. attribute)? *
- Are the parts selected to represent the expected range of process variation? *
- Are qualified appraisers and calibrated gauges assigned to the study? *
- Gauge / instrument ID *
Statistical Properties (Bias, Linearity, Stability)
- Has bias been evaluated against a reference/master value? *
- Has linearity been assessed across the operating range of the gauge?
- Is stability monitored over time (e.g., control chart on a master part)?
Gauge R&R Study
- Is the study conducted with the standard configuration (e.g., 10 parts, 3 appraisers, 3 trials) or a justified alternative? *
- Are parts measured in random order and appraisers blind to prior readings? *
- Are repeatability (equipment variation) and reproducibility (appraiser variation) calculated? *
- Is the number of distinct categories (ndc) ≥ 5? *
Acceptance & Disposition
- Is %GRR under 10% (acceptable), or 10-30% (conditionally acceptable) with justification? *
- Measured %GRR value
- For %GRR over 30%, is the measurement system rejected and improvement action defined? *
- Are study results retained as documented information? *
