Verify that underground escapeways, self-contained self-rescuers, lifelines, and emergency evacuation provisions are maintained and available to allow safe egress from an underground mine.

Escapeway Provision & Separation
- Are two separate and distinct travelable escapeways provided from each working section to the surface? *
- Are the primary and alternate escapeways separated so a single event is unlikely to disable both? *
- Is the designated primary escapeway maintained in intake air? *
Escapeway Maintenance & Marking
- Are escapeways maintained clear of obstructions and in a safe, travelable condition at all times? *
- Is a continuous directional lifeline installed in the escapeway with directional cones or indicators toward the exit? *
- Are escapeways clearly marked with reflective signs identifying the route to the surface? *
Self-Rescue Devices
- Is each underground miner provided with a self-contained self-rescuer (SCSR) that is carried or available as required? *
- Are additional SCSR caches stored along escapeways to provide sufficient breathable-air duration for evacuation? *
- Are self-rescuers inspected, and are inspection and expiration records maintained? *
Evacuation Readiness
- Are escapeway evacuation and SCSR expectation-and-donning drills conducted at the required frequency? *
- Is a functioning emergency communication and tracking system in place to locate miners during an evacuation? *
- Are refuge alternatives (where required) provisioned, inspected, and accessible? *
