Explosives Storage & Inventory
- Are explosives and detonators stored in approved, locked magazines that are properly located and separated? *
- Are detonators stored separately from other explosives? *
- Is a current daily inventory of explosive materials maintained and reconciled? *
- Does the operator hold a valid ATF license or permit for the explosive materials on site? *
Loading & Blast Design
- Is loading performed only by or under the direction of a qualified blaster? *
- Are boreholes checked for obstructions and adequate depth before loading? *
- Is smoking and open flame prohibited within 50 feet of explosives during loading? *
- Are flyrock and airblast/ground-vibration controls incorporated into the blast design near structures? *
Blast Area Security & Initiation
- Is the blast area cleared of all persons except those necessary, and are access points guarded? *
- Are adequate audible warning signals given before blasting and an all-clear given after? *
- Are initiation systems protected from stray current, radio-frequency energy, and lightning? *
Post-Blast, Misfires & Records
- Is a post-blast examination conducted before allowing re-entry into the blast area? *
- Are misfires handled by a qualified person following documented procedures, with a required waiting period observed? *
- Are blast records (location, date, time, pattern, quantities) maintained? *
