Verify import documentation and traceability for priority seafood species under NOAA's Seafood Import Monitoring Program.

Applicability and Permit
- Are the imported products among the SIMP priority species subject to reporting (e.g., tuna, cod, blue crab, red snapper, shrimp, abalone)? *
- Does the importer of record hold a valid International Fisheries Trade Permit (IFTP)? *
- Is the IFTP renewed annually and kept valid for the duration of import activity? *
Harvest and Landing Data
- Is the name and flag state of the harvesting or aquaculture vessel(s) documented? *
- Is the type of fishing gear used to harvest the product recorded? *
- Are the species (ASFIS/scientific name), harvest date(s), and area of catch or aquaculture location documented? *
- Is the point of first landing (date, location, entity receiving) recorded? *
Reporting at Entry
- Is the required catch and landing data reported to NOAA via the ITDS/ACE message set at the time of entry? *
- Is the NMFS-issued IFTP number transmitted with each entry filing? *
- Is the transmitted entry data consistent with the harvest and chain-of-custody documentation retained on file? *
Chain of Custody and Recordkeeping
- Is a record of the chain of custody maintained from harvest through entry into U.S. commerce (transshipment, processing, re-packing)? *
- Are the required import records retained for at least two years from the date of import? *
- Are records made available to NMFS for audit or inspection upon request? *
