Training Plan
- Is there a written, MSHA-compliant training plan available at the mine site? *
- Does the plan list the person designated to be responsible for health and safety training? *
- Was the training plan made available for review and comment by miners or their representatives? *
New Miner Training
- Do new miners receive no less than 24 hours of training? *
- Do new miners receive the required pre-work instruction (hazard recognition, emergency procedures) before starting work? *
- Is the remaining new miner training completed within 60 calendar days of beginning work? *
Newly Hired Experienced & Site-Specific Training
- Do newly hired experienced miners receive training before beginning work? *
- Is site-specific hazard awareness training provided to contractors, vendors, and visitors as applicable? *
- Is task training provided when a miner is assigned a new task requiring new skills? *
Annual Refresher Training
- Does each miner receive at least 8 hours of annual refresher training? *
- Number of days elapsed since each miner's most recent refresher (must not exceed 12 months). *
- Does refresher training cover the mandatory health and safety subjects relevant to the mine? *
Records and Certification
- Are training records completed and certified (MSHA Form 5000-23 or equivalent) for each miner? *
- Are training records retained for at least two years and available at the mine site? *
- Are training records made available to MSHA and to miners on request? *
