Yard Layout & Traffic Control
- Are separate travel routes and exclusion zones established to keep pedestrians away from operating mobile equipment? *
- Are traffic patterns, speed limits, and right-of-way rules posted and enforced in the yard? *
- Is the yard surface maintained to provide stable footing and equipment travel free of hazardous ruts or debris? *
Mobile Equipment Condition
- Are log loaders and stackers equipped with rollover protective structures (ROPS) and falling-object protective structures (FOPS)? *
- Are pre-operational inspections of brakes, steering, lights, alarms, and grapples performed and documented? *
- Are backup alarms and warning lights functional on all yard mobile equipment? *
Log Handling & Stacking
- Are log decks and stacks built and maintained stable to prevent unplanned log roll or collapse? *
- Are personnel prohibited from positioning themselves under suspended loads or in the fall path of stacked logs? *
- Are load capacities of loaders and stackers observed and not exceeded during lifting? *
Operator Qualification & Communication
- Are equipment operators trained and evaluated for the specific machine they operate? *
- Is a communication protocol (hand signals or radio) used between spotters, operators, and truck drivers? *
- Is high-visibility clothing required for personnel on foot in the yard? *
