Vessel & Harvest Data (Point of Capture)

  • Is the harvesting vessel identified with a unique vessel identifier (IMO number or registration) captured at point of capture? *
  • Are catch area, gear type, and catch date recorded for wild-capture product? *
  • For farmed product, is the production/farm facility identified with location and harvest date? *
  • Are species recorded using standardized (ASFIS/FAO 3-alpha) codes? *

Critical Tracking Events (CTEs)

  • Are critical tracking events (landing, transshipment, processing, shipping, receiving) captured across the chain? *
  • Is each event linked to a date, time, and location? *
  • Are transformation events (processing, mixing, splitting) recorded linking inputs to outputs? *

Interoperability & Data Format

  • Are data records stored and exchanged in a GDST-interoperable format (e.g., GS1 EPCIS)? *
  • Are unique lot/batch identifiers assigned and maintained so product can be traced one step back and one step forward? *
  • Can the full chain of custody be reconstructed for a given finished-product lot on request? *

Legality & Social Data

  • Is documentation of authorization to fish (license/permit) or aquaculture authorization captured to demonstrate legal origin? *
  • Are human-welfare / labor policy attestations captured where required by buyer or GDST recommendations?
  • Are records retained for the period required by buyers and applicable import regulations? *
