Passage Plan (Appraise and Plan)
- Is a berth-to-berth passage plan prepared covering appraisal, planning, execution, and monitoring? *
- Are charts and publications corrected to the latest notices to mariners for the intended voyage? *
- Are no-go areas, abort points, wheel-over positions, and under-keel clearance margins marked on the plan? *
- Is the passage plan checked and approved by the master before departure? *
ECDIS and Chart Management
- Is ECDIS set with appropriate safety contour, safety depth, and alarm settings for the voyage? *
- Is the route checked in ECDIS for dangers along the track before use? *
- Are electronic navigational charts up to date and covering the whole passage? *
Bridge Resource Management
- Are bridge team roles, cross-checking, and challenge-and-response practices applied during watches? *
- Is the watch level (e.g., additional lookout, master on the bridge) set appropriately for traffic, visibility, and pilotage? *
- Is position fixed by independent methods at intervals appropriate to the area? *
Monitoring and Records
- Is the vessel's progress monitored against the plan, with deviations authorized and recorded? *
- Is a master-pilot exchange conducted and documented for pilotage waters? *
- Are bridge equipment tests and voyage records maintained in accordance with company procedures? *
