Certification and Equipment
- Is a valid International Sewage Pollution Prevention (ISPP) Certificate held on board? *
- Is an approved sewage treatment plant, comminuting/disinfecting system, or holding tank fitted per the certificate? *
- Is the sewage treatment plant operating within its approval parameters? *
Holding and Piping
- Is the holding tank of adequate capacity with a means to indicate the level? *
- Is a standard shore discharge connection fitted for pumping sewage ashore? *
- Are overboard discharge lines and valves free from leaks and correctly labelled? *
Discharge Controls
- Is untreated sewage only discharged beyond 12 nm from land with the ship en route at ≥4 knots? *
- Is treated (comminuted/disinfected) sewage only discharged beyond the applicable distance from land? *
- Are special area restrictions (e.g., Baltic Sea for passenger ships) observed where applicable? *
