Authorization and Loading Plan
- Does the vessel hold a valid Document of Authorization to carry grain? *
- Is the grain loading calculation prepared and within the approved grain loading information? *
- Is the grain to be loaded within the tables and limits of the ship's grain loading manual? *
Stability Criteria
- Is the angle of heel due to grain shift within 12 degrees (or the deck-edge immersion angle)? *
- Is the residual dynamic stability (net area between heeling and righting curves) at least 0.075 metre-radians? *
- Is the initial metacentric height (corrected for free surface) at least 0.30 metres? *
- Enter the calculated angle of heel due to assumed grain shift in degrees.
Trimming and Securing
- Are filled compartments trimmed to minimise void spaces under the deck and hatchways? *
- Are partly filled or untrimmed compartments secured (overstowing, strapping, saucer/bundle) as required? *
- Are grain feeders or trimming arrangements provided where required to reduce heeling moment? *
Documentation
- Is the completed grain stability calculation approved and available to port state control? *
- Is cargo information (angle of repose, density/stowage factor) obtained from the shipper? *
