Garbage Management Plan
- Is an approved Garbage Management Plan on board and followed by the crew? *
- Is a person designated to be in charge of carrying out the garbage management plan? *
- Are garbage placards posted to notify crew and passengers of disposal requirements? *
Segregation by Category
- Is garbage segregated into the Annex V categories (plastics, food waste, domestic, cooking oil, incinerator ash, operational, e-waste, and cargo residues)? *
- Are receptacles provided and labelled for each garbage category to be retained? *
- Is the discharge of plastics into the sea prohibited and prevented at all times? *
Record Book Entries
- Is the Garbage Record Book maintained with discharges, incineration, and landings recorded by category and quantity? *
- Are entries signed by the officer in charge and each completed page signed by the master? *
- Are reception facility receipts for garbage landed ashore retained with the record book? *
- Enter the estimated volume of garbage landed ashore at the last port in cubic metres.
Special Areas and Cargo Residues
- Are the stricter discharge restrictions for special areas observed when operating within them? *
- Are cargo residues and hold washings handled and recorded in accordance with Annex V and any HME classification? *
