DP System Status
- Are position reference systems (DGPS, taut wire, laser, acoustic) selected with adequate diversity and redundancy for the operation? *
- Are wind sensors, gyros, and motion reference units functioning and consistent? *
- Are all thrusters and generators required by the intended DP class online and available? *
- Enter the number of independent position reference systems currently online.
Redundancy and Capability
- Has the worst-case failure been identified and is the vessel operating within its post-failure capability? *
- Is the DP capability plot confirmed adequate for the prevailing and forecast environmental conditions? *
- Is the annual DP trials (FMEA proving) documentation current? *
Checklists and Operating Mode
- Are the location (setup), 500-metre zone entry, and pre-operation DP checklists completed and signed? *
- Is the correct DP operating mode selected for the critical activity, with the activity-specific operating guidelines applied? *
- Are DP alert status and green/yellow/red zone criteria understood by the DP operators? *
Manning and Emergency Response
- Are certified DP operators on watch in numbers appropriate to the operation? *
- Is a documented emergency response and drive-off/drift-off procedure available and drilled? *
- Is a means to escape the operating location quickly available if DP capability is lost? *
