Lashing Plan and Software

  • Is the stowage and lashing plan checked against the approved lashing computer or Cargo Securing Manual limits? *
  • Are stack weights, tier limits, and permissible lashing forces confirmed within allowable values? *
  • Are the verified gross masses of containers used in the securing calculations? *

Securing Hardware

  • Are twistlocks, cones, and stacking fittings of the correct type, engaged, and free of defects? *
  • Are lashing rods, turnbuckles, and bridge fittings applied and tensioned in accordance with the plan? *
  • Are automatic or semi-automatic twistlocks in the locked condition where used? *

CTU Packing Integrity

  • Are containers and CTUs confirmed structurally sound (CSC plate valid) and fit to carry cargo? *
  • Is cargo inside CTUs reported to be packed and secured to prevent shifting in accordance with the CTU Code? *
  • Are dangerous goods CTUs correctly placarded, documented, and segregated? *

Voyage Monitoring

  • Are lashings inspected and re-tensioned as required during the voyage, weather permitting and with safe access? *
  • Is heavy-weather routing or speed reduction considered to keep accelerations within securing limits? *
