Operator Training & Authorization
- Are only trained and evaluated operators authorized to operate PITs? *
- Has each operator's competence been evaluated within the last three years? *
- Is training specific to the truck type and workplace conditions? *
Pre-Shift Inspection
- Is the truck examined at least daily / before each shift before being placed in service? *
- Are tires, forks, mast, and hydraulics free of defects? *
- Do horn, lights, brakes, steering, and backup alarm function? *
- Are fluid levels and battery/fuel checked with no leaks present? *
- Are trucks in need of repair removed from service? *
Safe Operation
- Do operators observe posted speed limits and yield at intersections? *
- Are loads kept tilted back and carried low during travel? *
- Is the seatbelt worn and are pedestrians kept clear? *
- Are load capacity ratings observed and not exceeded? *
Charging, Fueling & Parking
- Is battery charging done in a designated, ventilated area away from ignition sources? *
- When parked, are forks lowered, controls neutral, and power off? *
