Wood Minimization
- Has wood been eliminated from open-product and food-contact areas where practical? *
- Where wooden equipment or utensils are unavoidable, are they in good condition and free of splinters, mold, and damage? *
- Is a register or risk assessment maintained for permitted wood items?
Pallet Condition and Inspection
- Are pallets inspected on receipt and before use for broken boards, protruding nails, splinters, and mold? *
- Are damaged, wet, or contaminated pallets rejected or removed from food areas? *
- Are pallets stored in a clean, dry area protected from pests and contamination? *
- Are food products kept on pallets or slip sheets and off the floor?
Phytosanitary and Chemical Control
- Do wooden pallets used for international shipment bear the ISPM 15 heat-treatment (HT) or fumigation mark as required? *
- Are chemically treated pallets (e.g., methyl bromide) excluded from direct contact with food? *
- Are pallets sourced from an approved supplier with specification and hygiene requirements?
