Food Defense Plan & Team

Vulnerability Assessment

  • Does the assessment consider the ability of an attacker to successfully contaminate the product? *

Mitigation Strategies

  • Are mitigation strategies identified and implemented at each actionable process step? *
  • Do written procedures explain how each mitigation strategy sufficiently minimizes or prevents the significant vulnerability? *
  • Are mitigation strategies tailored to the specific actionable process step rather than generic security measures? *

Management Components

  • Is food defense monitoring conducted to ensure mitigation strategies are consistently performed? *
  • Are corrective actions taken and documented when a mitigation strategy is not properly implemented? *
  • Are verification activities performed to confirm monitoring and corrective actions are effective? *
  • Have personnel and supervisors at actionable process steps received food defense awareness training? *

Records & Reanalysis

  • Are food defense monitoring, corrective action, and verification records maintained? *
  • Are records signed or initialed and dated by the person who performed the activity? *
  • Is the food defense plan reanalyzed at least every three years or when a significant change occurs? *
