Approved-Chemicals List

  • Is a current list of approved chemicals maintained, covering cleaners, sanitizers, lubricants, and pesticides? *
  • Does the list identify permitted use areas and food-contact suitability for each chemical? *
  • Are new chemicals reviewed and approved before introduction to the site? *
  • Is the approved list reviewed at a defined frequency?

Documentation

  • Is a current Safety Data Sheet (SDS) available for each chemical on site? *
  • Are food-grade lubricants supported by NSF H1 or equivalent registration documentation? *
  • Are chemical concentration and usage instructions documented and available to staff?

Storage and Segregation

  • Are toxic cleaning compounds, sanitizers, and pesticides stored separately and away from food, packaging, and food-contact surfaces? *
  • Is the chemical storage area secured with controlled access? *
  • Are all chemical containers, including secondary and working containers, correctly labeled? *
  • Are only chemicals required for maintaining sanitary conditions present in food-handling areas?
