Policy Commitment & Governance
- Is there a board-approved human rights policy commitment referencing the International Bill of Human Rights and ILO core conventions? *
- Is the policy embedded across business functions and communicated internally and externally? *
- Is senior accountability for human rights due diligence assigned? *
Scoping & Identifying Impacts
- Has the assessment scope covered the enterprise's own activities and business relationships? *
- Have actual and potential adverse human rights impacts been identified? *
- Has meaningful consultation with potentially affected rightsholders been conducted? *
- Have vulnerable or marginalized groups been specifically considered? *
Prioritization & Salient Issues
- Have salient human rights issues been prioritized by severity (scale, scope, remediability)? *
- Has the enterprise's involvement (cause, contribute, or directly linked) been characterized for each impact? *
- Is the prioritization rationale documented and revisited as circumstances change? *
Integrating & Acting
- Are findings integrated into relevant internal functions and decision-making? *
- Are actions to prevent and mitigate impacts assigned with leverage strategies for business relationships? *
- Where leverage is insufficient, are options to increase leverage or responsibly disengage considered? *
Tracking, Communicating & Remedy
- Is the effectiveness of responses tracked using qualitative and quantitative indicators? *
- Does the enterprise communicate externally how impacts are addressed? *
- Are processes in place to enable remediation of impacts the enterprise caused or contributed to? *
