Goal, Scope & Functional Unit
- Is the goal of the PEF study defined, including intended application and audience? *
- Is the functional unit defined by what, how much, how well, and how long? *
- Is a relevant PEF Category Rule (PEFCR) applied where available? *
- Are the system boundary and cut-off criteria defined (cradle-to-grave)? *
Life Cycle Inventory
- Is the resource use and emissions inventory compiled for all life-cycle stages? *
- Is company-specific data used for processes under the company's control? *
- Are EF-compliant secondary datasets used for background processes? *
- Is the Data Needs Matrix (DNM) used to determine data quality requirements?
Impact Assessment (16 Categories)
- Are all 16 PEF impact categories assessed (e.g. climate change, ozone depletion, acidification, eutrophication, water use, resource use)? *
- Are the EF-recommended characterisation factors (EF 3.1) applied? *
- Are results normalised and weighted to derive a single aggregated score? *
Data Quality & Reporting
- Is the Data Quality Rating (DQR) calculated for the most relevant processes? *
- Are the most relevant impact categories, life-cycle stages and processes identified? *
- Has the study been critically reviewed/verified as required by the intended use?
