EUDR Deforestation Due Diligence Checklist

Establish due diligence for placing relevant commodities and products on the EU market deforestation- and conversion-free under the EU Deforestation Regulation.

Scope & Applicability

  • Are in-scope relevant commodities (cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya, wood) and derived products identified? *
  • Is the operator/trader role and applicable obligations determined? *
  • Is SME vs non-SME status determined to identify applicable timelines and simplified due diligence eligibility? *

Information Collection & Traceability

  • Is geolocation (geo-coordinates or polygons) of all plots of land where commodities were produced collected? *
  • Is the production date or time range for each plot recorded? *
  • Is traceability maintained from product back to the plot of origin? *

Deforestation-Free & Legality Verification

  • Is it verified that commodities are deforestation-free (no deforestation after 31 December 2020)? *
  • Is production legality under the laws of the country of production verified? *
  • Is supporting evidence (maps, certificates, satellite/remote-sensing data) retained? *

Risk Assessment & Mitigation

  • Is a risk assessment applying the regulation's criteria (including country benchmarking risk level) performed? *
  • Are risk mitigation measures applied where risk is not negligible? *
  • Are due diligence policies, controls, and procedures reviewed at least annually? *

Due Diligence Statement & Records

  • Is a due diligence statement submitted in the EU information system before placing products on the market? *
  • Are due diligence records retained for at least 5 years? *
  • Is the due diligence statement reference number passed to downstream operators and traders? *
