Means of Egress

  • Are exit corridors, aisles, and stairways kept clear and unobstructed to a required clear width? *
  • Are exit signs illuminated and readily visible from any direction of egress travel? *
  • Is emergency egress lighting provided and tested (30-second monthly, 90-minute annual)? *
  • Do doors in a means of egress swing in the direction of egress travel where required and latch properly? *

Fire & Smoke Barriers / Compartmentation

  • Are smoke barriers subdividing floors into compartments intact with self-closing cross-corridor doors? *
  • Are fire-rated doors self-closing, positive-latching, and free of hold-open devices not tied to the alarm? *

Automatic Sprinkler & Fire Alarm Systems

  • Is the fire alarm system tested and maintained per NFPA 72 with documented results? *
  • Date of most recent annual fire alarm system inspection? *

Portable Fire Extinguishers & Cooking

  • Are portable fire extinguishers appropriately located, mounted, and inspected monthly / serviced annually? *
  • Is commercial cooking equipment protected by a UL 300 hood suppression system serviced semi-annually? *

Utilities, Medical Gas & Building Services

  • Is the essential electrical (emergency) generator tested monthly under load and maintained per NFPA 110? *
  • Are medical gas systems (oxygen storage, zone valves, alarms) maintained per NFPA 99? *
  • Are HVAC/heating equipment and grease-producing operations maintained to prevent fire hazards? *

Fire Response & Drills

  • Are fire drills conducted quarterly per shift and documented? *
  • Is a written fire safety plan (RACE/PASS) available and are staff trained on their roles? *
