Inspection & Testing

  • Is the emergency power supply system (EPSS) inspected weekly per the manufacturer and NFPA schedule? *
  • Is the generator load-tested monthly for at least 30 minutes at a minimum of 30% nameplate rating (or exhaust temperature)? *
  • Is an annual load bank test performed if monthly tests do not meet the minimum load criteria? *

Transfer & Restoration Time

  • Does the EPSS restore power to life-safety and critical branches within 10 seconds of normal power loss? *
  • Are automatic transfer switches tested for proper operation during monthly testing? *

Fuel & Environment

  • Is the on-site fuel supply sufficient for the required runtime and periodically tested for quality? *
  • Is the generator room/enclosure maintained with adequate ventilation, cooling, and battery condition? *
  • Are batteries inspected and electrolyte/charging levels verified? *

Documentation & 4-Hour Test

  • Is a 3-hour continuous test (36-month) or 4-hour load test performed and documented as required? *
  • Are written records of all inspections, tests, exercising, and repairs retained? *
  • Is a preventive maintenance program based on manufacturer recommendations documented? *
