Fire Pump & Standpipe Acceptance Testing Checklist
An acceptance testing checklist for newly installed fire pumps and standpipe systems prior to placing them in service.

Pre-Test Readiness
- Are approved shop drawings and manufacturer data available for the pump and controller? *
- Is the installation contractor's material and test certificate completed? *
- Is the AHJ notified and scheduled to witness the acceptance test? *
- Are suction supply, water level, and alignment verified before start-up? *
Fire Pump Performance Test
- Is the pump tested at churn (no-flow), 100%, and 150% of rated capacity? *
- Does the pump meet its certified performance curve at each test point? *
- Is suction and discharge pressure recorded at each flow point? *
- Is the driver (electric motor or diesel engine) operating within parameters? *
Controller & Alarms
- Does the fire pump controller start automatically on pressure drop? *
- Are automatic and manual start sequences verified? *
- Are supervisory and alarm signals (power loss, pump running, phase reversal) confirmed? *
- For diesel drivers, are both battery start banks and fuel/cooling systems verified? *
Standpipe System
- Has the standpipe piping passed a hydrostatic test at 200 psi (or 50 psi above max) for 2 hours? *
- Is a flow test performed verifying minimum residual pressure at the hydraulically remote outlet? *
- Are hose valves, pressure-regulating devices, and FDC verified? *
- Are outlets and signage located and identified correctly? *
Documentation
- Are all test results recorded on the contractor's acceptance test forms? *
- Are deficiencies corrected and retested before final acceptance? *
- Is the system tagged and placed in service upon AHJ approval? *
- Photo of pump nameplate and test gauges
- Witness signature and date
